Announcing ShareClave!
The Definitive SharePoint 2010 UnConference.
Mark your calendars because on October 24th we'll be hosting the first ever SharePoint 2010 Unconference which we've aptly named ShareClave.
What is a Clave you Ask? That's a good question, and one that many of my friends and colleagues have asked me over the past few weeks.
The answer takes a bit of explaining but I feel confident that after you learn a bit about me and my history with conclaves you'll come to understand why I chose to call this unconference a "Clave".
You're also probably asking yourself "What the HECK is an Unconference?" -- Well that too may need a little bit of explaining. It's basically an event that has an open format where the structure of the conference is determined by group collaboration at the onset of the event. Collaboration? Organic? Yeah -- sounds like SharePoint to me!

It's no coincidence that we're having this event the Saturday following the SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas. There are several strategic reasons for this that I think outweigh the obvious disadvantages:
1. There are MANY people, including myself, that just can't make it to Vegas in October for any number of reasons, be it financial or previous commitments, etc. So you want to see SharePoint 2010 but can't fit the cost of the conference into your travel budget? Then this is the venue for you!
2. This will be the first Saturday following the unveiling of SharePoint 2010 and the lifting of the NDA that we've been bound to over the past several months. This gives you the chance to show up to work on the following Monday with a bit of SP2010 love in your back pocket and maybe just enough insight and buzz-words to really get the 2010 fire going! And since this is an unconference you'll head in knowing that YOU will be a part of determining the direction of the discussion!
3. We didn't want to bump heads with any of the SharePoint Saturday's out there and if you check their schedule you'll know that the months of November and December are almost totally booked up!
